|Stainless Crude Steel Production by Major SUS Mills in Dec. 320,009 Tons|
|=Up by 9% from prior month and production in CY2013 is 3.63 million tons, up by 3% from prior year=|
The stainless crude steel production by 7 major stainless steel mills in December 2013 was 320,009 tons, up by 8.6% from 294,556 tons of the prior month. This also represented an increase of 18.1% versus the year-earlier month (270,851 tons). |
In December, Chiba Works of JFE Steel Corporation and Kinuura Works of Nippon Metal Industry Co., Ltd. whose outputs were good in the prior month decreased production, whereas Yawata Works of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation and Nippon Steel & Sumikin Koutetsu Wakayama Corporation increased production in addition to recovery in production at Shunan Works of Nisshin Steel Co., Ltd., which in turn resulted in the overall production volume having exceeded the prior month as aforementioned.
Besides, the total production volume in the calendar year 2013 was 3,629,990 tons, up by 3.4% from 3,509,940 tons of the prior year. The production volume (up by 19.4% from the prior year) by Yawata Works of Nippon Steel & Sumitomo Metal Corporation which has continued to increase production since the year 2010 is the most powerful force driving.
