S. African Kumba Reaches Wage Agreement with Num and Solidarity
Kumba Iron Ore Limited, an iron ore mining company in South Africa, reached three-year wage agreement with the National Union of Mineworkers (NUM) and Solidarity, its recognized unions with bargaining rights. The agreement is effective from July 1st 2014 through June 30th 2017 and will provide for increases of between 8.5% and 10% in the first two years and between 7.5% and 9% in the third year.

Kumba CEO, Norman Mbazima said, "We would like to thank the NUM and Solidarity for the constructive way in which they have approached in the negotiations. While robust and challenging, this demonstrates that the bargaining system is sound and capable of delivering negotiated agreements that take the needs and priorities of all parties into account."
