|Price Trend of CR Austenitic Stainless Sheets|
|= The downward trend becomes strong in East Asia =|
A gloomy atmosphere is hanging over the market prices of cold-rolled (CR) austenitic stainless steel sheets in the East Asian region. It is because a price drop of nickel has an impact on export prices of products and the downward trend of them becomes strong.|
In a sort, Chinese mills left their domestic prices of them unchanged for October shipment. However, if they have applied incentives to certain customers, their prices become a virtual decrease in price. In the export market, main prices are seen still at the level of $2,700 CFR. However, such information is spreading that some Korean offers have been made at the level dipped below $2,700 CFR.
The Japanese mills are in a state to be wait-and-see. Meantime, they have a policy to exert themselves to maintain the level of $2,900 CFR. At present, they seem to have made offers at $2,900 CFR for customers with a long-term relationship considering a price decrease of raw materials and the weak yen. Attention is paid to what extent they will be able to maintain this level.
In addition to a price drop, the fact that such observation becomes strong as the European Commission might determine to be affirmative on an antidumping case against imported CR stainless sheets from China and Taiwan to Europe is creating the gloomy atmosphere. It is because the export quantity of stainless sheets from China and Taiwan to Europe is 60,000-80,000 tons a month in total, and if 700-1,000 thousand tons a year of products are diverted to Asia, it is certain for prices to fall further.
