|Thailand's October Scrap Imports Total 158,000 Tons|
Thailand's ferrous scrap imports totaled 158,000 tons in October 2014, up 29.1% from the same month of a year ago, when they decreased by 12.2% from a month ago, a decrease for two consecutive months, according to Thai trade statistics made available in Tokyo. |
Of the total, the USA supplied the largest quantity of 72,000 tons, up by a factor of 61 from the same month of a year ago; Australia the second largest of 30,000 tons, down 38.2%; and Panama the third largest of 6,000 tons, up 20.3%.
In January-October 2014, Thailand's ferrous scrap imports totaled 1,219,000 tons, up 59.0% from the same period of 2013, averaging 122,000 tpm, when the cumulative imports translated into an annualized 1,460,000 tons.
Of the total, the USA provided the largest amount of 388,000 tons or 31.8%, up 1,564.8%; Australia the second largest of 351,000 tons or 28.8%; up 80.5%; and the Philippines the third largest of 58,000 tons or 4.8%, down 10.2%. As a result, the USA and Australia together accounted for 60.0% of the total.
