ArcelorMittal Prijedor Celebrates Decade Operation
= Its mining business was resumed after the conflicts and has been successfully operated =
ArcelorMittal revealed on 12th that its subsidiary ArcelorMittal Prijedor operating a mining business in the Republika Srpska of Bosinia and Herzegovina has celebrated a decade successful operation.

ArcelorMittal acquired 51% of the previous state-owned company (Prijedor) in 2004. Since then, the company invested more than EUR35 million in that business, which had been defunct since the conflicts of 1990s.

Prijedor employs over 850 people and iron ore of over 15 million tons has been produced during its first 10 years of operation. The majority of its iron ore has been supplied to ArcelorMittal Zenica of an integrated steel manufacturer in that country.

At a special 'Miner's Day' event held to mark the occasion, CEO Mladen Jelaca said, "Through planned investments and the skill and determination of our workforce, the foundations for a long-term, sustainable successful business have been laid. We have also successfully made health and safety and social responsibility core elements. We are proud of our business achievements," and so on.

That company has been recognized by many awards including the award for the most successful company in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and for its contribution to the development of corporate social responsibility in 2009 and 2012 by the Republika Srpska Chamber of Commerce. That company donated over EUR1.5 million to local community projects including major contributions to aid and reconstruction operations after the major floods in 2014.
