FERC Approves Sabine Pass Stage 3
= Two trains to produce 9 million tpy of LNG =
The U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has prepared its environmental assessment (EA), in which the commission approved the Stage 3 of Sabine Pass LNG project subject to appropriate mitigating measures in reply to the application filed by Sabine Pass Liquefaction Expansion LLC (SPL) and two others.

The EA has been made available for public viewing and anybody wishing to comment on the EA may send comments to FERC on or before January 12, 2015.

The Stage 3 includes construction of two trains (#5 and #6), capable of producing about 9 million tonnes of LNG or of liquefying 1.4 Bcf per day of natural gas, and pipeline capacity expansion by 1.5 Bcf per day. Production and exports of LNG are scheduled to start-up in 2018 or 2019.

For reference, construction of Stage 1 (Train #1 and #2) and 2 (Train #3 and #4) both already commenced, aiming at completion and start-up in 2015 through 2017.

As to the schedlued output of LNG from Train #5, SPL signed agreements of sale with Total (France) for 2 million tpy and with Centrica (U.K.) for 1.75 million tpy.
