|Exmar Places Order for Barge-Based FLNG to Wison|
|= Second order after the first one for Caribbean LNG in Colombia -|
Exmar NV, a Belgian vessel owner/operator, announced an order for its second floating LNG liquefaction unit (an FLNG capable of producing 600,000 tonnes per year of LNG) to Wison Offshore and Marine, China, who is responsible for engineering, procurement, construction, transportation, installation and commissioning (EPCIC) of the FLNG. Completion of the construction is scheduled in 2017.|
The Chinese shipbuilder is currently building an FLNG (capable of producing 500,000s tonne per year of LNG), the first one for Exmar, which is to be employed by Caribbean LNG in Colombia for a scheduled start-up of production in 2015.
Exmar has not disclosed where the second unit will be employed except that the company said in its quarterly report for the third quarter 2014 released in October 2014 that it signed an agreement with Pacific Rubiales Energy (PRE) with regard to an FLNG project in Peru. PRE is a project partner also in the Caribbean LNG.
Besides the two units, Exmar secured additional firm options for two more units with Wison, in a view that the demand for FLNG as cost-efficient and fast-track solutions over land-based liquefaction terminals would continue strong due to the lower oil and gas prices.
