Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Prices by Y500 at Tahara Works
Japan's Tokyo Steel Mfg Co reduced what the pricing leader pays for locally available ferrous scrap by a uniform Y500/ton from Jan 31 for all grades of arrivals at the company's Tahara works in the Chubu area. As a result, the new delivered price of No2 HMS is settled at Y24,500/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals there.

The company's purchase prices of local ferrous scrap remain unchanged for arrivals at the rest of its facilities. The delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y23,500/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals at the Okayama works; Y24,000/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals at the Kyushu works; Y26,500/ton for overland arrivals at the Utsunomiya works; and Y23,000/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals at the Takamatsu steel center.
