Tokyo Steel Cuts Scrap Purchase Prices by Y500 at Two Works
Japan's Tokyo Steel Mfg Co has reduced what the company pays for locally available ferrous scrap by a uniform Y500/ton for all grades at its Kyushu and Utsunomiya works, effective with July 15 arrivals.

The company's purchase prices of local ferrous scrap remain unchanged for intakes at its other facilities. The delivered prices of No2 HMS are Y24,000/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals at the Tahara works; Y23,000/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals at the Okayama works; and Y22,500/ton for seaborne/overland arrivals at the Takamatsu steel center.
