|Japan's Purchase Price of HC FeCr Remains Unchanged from Prior Period|
|= US Cents 116 per lb, and no change in overall demand and supply balance =|
Japanese stainless steel mills continued negotiation with several foreign ferro-chrome producers to fix the purchase price of high-carbon ferro-chrome for the period from July to September in 2015, and came to an agreement on the price to remain unchanged from the prior period.|
The price is US Cents 116 per lb by estimate, and the situation of no change being made continues since the period from January to March in 2015.
This time, the reason why the price remained unchanged from the prior period is because there has been no big change in the demand and supply balance throughout the world.
In terms of supply, the production volume of ferro-chrome in South Africa as a main ferro-chrome producing area decreases because the relatively high electricity rate is applied at the present moment, but by contraries, the production in China where the cheap electricity rate is applied makes a recovery, and the increase and decrease in the production is thought to be balanced out.
On the other hand, in terms of demand, the stainless steel production in Europe will decrease in the period from July to September, whereas the stainless steel production in Japan will increase and the consumption of ferro-chrome is thought to be up in Japan.
The trends in the prices since the year 2013 is <> During January to March in 2013: Cents 120.5 (up by Cents 2.5 from the prior period, <> During April to June: Cents 135.0 (up by Cents 14.5 ditto), <> During July to September: Cents 120.5 (down by 14.5 ditto), <> During October to December: Cents 120.5 (unchanged ditto), <> During January to March in 2014: Cents 126.0 (up by Cents 5.5 ditto), <> April to June: Cents 130.0 (up by Cents 4.0), <> During July to September: Cents 127.0 (down by Cents 3.0), <> During October to December: Cents 123.0 (down by Cents 4.0) <> During January to March in 2015: Cents 116.0 (down by Cents 7.0), <> During April to June: Cents 116.0 ( unchanged ditto) and <> During July to September: Cents 116 (unchanged ditto).
