Commissioning at Akita Secondary LNG Terminal to Reach Final Stage
=To be put into commercial operations in December as scheduled=
In the secondary LNG terminal at Akita port, which is under construction, commissioning is reaching the final stage, which will be followed by commercial operation. In October, the pre-operation test, which is stipulated by the ordinance, was completed and in December, the full-fledged operation is expected to start as scheduled.

Akita secondary LNG terminal is the first one for Tobu Gas Co., Ltd. which is equipped with a LNG tank with storage capacity 12,000 kiloliters and so on. For trial operation, the terminal started to receive LNG cargoes in September and has so far received total four cargoes.

These cargoes have been carried by coastal ships from Hachinohe LNG import terminal operated by JX Nippon Oil and Energy Corporation. Tobu Gas has signed a contract with JX Energy to purchase yearly 20,000 MT of LNG for 10 years and six months from September 2015 until the end of March 2026.

When the Akita secondary LNG terminal enters into commercial operation, the number of secondary LNG terminals operational in Japan will expand to seven. At present, total six terminals have been in operation in Hokkaido, northern Japan and Shikoku, which is located in the southwestern part of the Japanese archipelago.
