U.S. Mo Import & Export Balance in Jan-Apr
= In April, export was down, but import made recovery =
According to the calculation to figure out volumes of molybdenum import and export in pure Mo equivalent based on the foreign trade statistics of United States Department of Commerce, the export volume in the period from January to April in 2016 was 8.31 million lbs, drastically down by 48.7% from 16.19 million lbs in the year-earlier period.

On the one hand, the import volume was 9.72 million lbs, drastically down by 25.6% from 13.07 million lbs in the year-earlier period, and when compared with the year-earlier period, both import and export were drastically down.

As to the trends on a single month basis, the export which showed a recovery trend from the decline in last December once again declined to a large extent, for which such reasons are provided as the molybdenum price begins to rise in Europe and the U.S. domestic consumption made a slight recovery in addition to multiple molybdenum mines in the U.S. being shut down.

To the contrary, the import of unroasted ore rose sharply (up by 68.8% from the prior month), which led to the import volume in pure Mo equivalent taking an upward turn from the decline during February to March. But, this is the only recovery to the same level as the monthly average in 2015.

The import and export volumes of various types of molybdenum product are as shown in Table 1 and the same in terms of pure Mo equivalent on a single month basis in Table 2.
