Result of Demand & Supply for Silicon Metal in December 2016
= Consumption of silicon metal is down due to decreased production of aluminium =
On January 27, Japan Aluminium Alloy Refiners Association released the result of demand & supply for silicon metal and the production result of secondary aluminium alloy products in December 2016 and in the full year 2016 (January - December).

According to this, the consumption of silicon metal in December was 3,486 tons, down by 9.5% from the prior month.

On the one hand, the quantity received was 3,720 tons, down by 5.0% from the prior month, and the month-end inventory was 2,822 tons, up by 7.5% ditto.

Besides, the production volume of secondary aluminium alloy products in December was 65,816 tons, down by 6.1% from the prior month, and the quantity shipped was 66,030 tons, down by 6.7% ditto. The month-end inventory was 20,105, up by 2.4% ditto.

Partly because of the rebound from the production volume of secondary aluminium alloy products maintaining a high level during September to November, the decrease in both of aluminium production volume and silicon metal production volume appeared in December.
