Japan's Exports of H-beams in May Rise by 45.3% from Apr to 21 t/t
According to Japan's trade statistics released by the Ministry of Finance Japan, its export quantity of steel H-beams in May 2017 was 21 thousand tons (abbreviated as t/t), up 45.3% from the previous month and down 23.3% from the same month last year. The average unit price of its exports in May was 66,000 yen ($590) FOB per ton, being flat from the previous month and up 18,000 yen from the same month last year. Its cumulative export quantity in January-May was 83 t/t, down 48.0% from the same period last year.

By main destination of H-beam exports in May, its exports were 8.9 t/t to Korea, 6.8 t/t to Hong Kong, 1.3 t/t to Singapore, 1.3 t/t to Taiwan. 1.2 t/t to China and so on.

While, its import quantity of H-beams in May was 8.3 t/t, up 64.0% from the previous month and up 2.9 times from the same month last year. Its cumulative import quantity in January-May was 49.0 t/t, up 46.2% from the same period last year.

By supplier in May, its imports were 4.1 t/t from Korea, 4.2 t/t from China and a little bit from the USA. It had been since April 2016 (0.9 t/t from Korea and 2.6 t/t from China) that its imports from China had exceeded those from Korea. By supplier, its cumulative imports in January-May were 39.0 t/t Korea, largely up 3.4 times from the same period last year and 10.8 t/t from China, up 19.0% ditto.
