South Africa's Transnet Pleads Force Majeure
Transnet, South Africa's state-run transport operator, has suspended all rail activity along the Saldanha iron ore export line following an accident where a loaded truck collided with a railway bridge in the morning of 28 November 2018. The company issued a force majeure letter to its customers on 30 November. The damaged line is a main artery to the Saldanha port from which mineral resources including iron ore and manganese ore are shipped overseas.
