According to trade statistics for October 2018 compiled by the General Administration of China Customs (GACC), the country's import quantity of iron ore in October stood at 88.399 mil tons, up 11.2% (8.905 mil tons) year-on-year (y/y), indicating production increases in the future. By type, lump stood at 14.54 mil tons with the average import price of $82.49; fines at 64.40 mil tons ($66.41); concentrates at 7.78 mil tons ($87.86); and pellet at 1.68 mil tons ($140.25). Pellet increased substantially y/y in both quantity and price.|
By country, Australian ore stood at 54.74 mil tons (a 61.9% share), Brazilian ore at 21.98 mil tons (24.9%), and South African ore at 2.53 mil tons (2.9%). Please note that trade statistics by the GACC have become available again to the public from October data.
