|Production Plan for Special Steel Products in Jan-Mar 5.0751 Mil. Tons|

On February 7, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry made clear the production plan for hot-rolled special steel products in the period from January to March in 2019. |
According to this, the production plan for special steel products in the period from January to March is 5.0751 million tons, the breakdown of which is 3.5321 million tons being meant for domestic consumption and 1.543 million tons being meant for international export. This is anticipated to be down by 2.8% from the expected result in the prior period (4.9382 million tons) but down by 3.4% from the actual result in the year-earlier period (5.2551 million tons).
The productions of not only high-tensile-strength steel whose production swings up and down wildly depending on the number of plant projects but also stainless steel plate, alloy steel for machine structural use and tool steel for both domestic consumption and international export are forecast to be down from the year-earlier period.
As compared with the forecast demand announced on December 27, the production for domestic consumption was down by 2.3% and the one for international export was down by 2.9%. The details by steel type are as shown in the table below.
