Japan's domestic transaction prices of locally available ferrous scrap averaged Y29,873/ton delivered at steelworks for No. 2 HMS in the main trading areas of Kanto, Chubu and Kansai in the 4th week of February, up by Y 1,014 from a week ago, according to a weekly price survey by the Japan Ferrous Raw Materials Association. The price increase from a week ago continued for 3 straight weeks.|
The surveyed prices of No. 2 HMS ex steelworks in cash transactions were Y30,500/ton in Kanto, up by Y 667 from a week ago; Y29,620/ton in Chubu, up by Y 1,500 ditto; and Y29,500/ton in Kansai, up by Y 875 ditto. The price in all 3 areas increased all together, and the domestic ferrous scrap market kept firmer tone nationwide.
