Freeport LNG Files for Commercial Operation of Train 1

US-based Freeport LNG Development on 19th filed for commercial operation of the Freeport LNG Train 1 to the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). The company explained it has completed all necessary processes for the commercial operation and requested FERC to approve it as soon as possible.

The company is advancing an LNG production/export project at the Freeport LNG terminal. Three LNG trains each with a capacity of 4.4 million mt per annum will be built in the initial phase, and the first train started commissioning this August.

Shipment of commissioning cargoes from Train 1 started this September and each one cargo was shipped to UAE and Spain in the month.

Trains 2 and 3 plan to start operations in the fourth quarter of 2019 and the first quarter of 2020 respectively. The Train 4 expansion project is also ongoing.

In the US, LNG trains at four LNG terminals in Sabine Pass, Cove Point, Corpus Christi, and Cameron have already started commercial operations.
